About

Asha is a model, actor and writer based in London, England.

Owing to her British Indian heritage, a family of creatives, and the Spice Girls, Asha’s introduction to the arts was inspired at an early age. She attended dance classes and stage school from the age of six, laying a foundation for later creative endeavours.

This paired with a curiosity into the complexity of human behaviour during her school years led Asha to study Psychology at the University of Surrey. Her interest in social psychology and culture (coupled with a post-graduate quarter life crisis) is what led Asha to her writing - an exploration of her experience as a young British Indian woman living and working in London. It was also whilst at university, Asha’s modelling career began with early campaigns including The Body Shop, Superdrug and Indian matrimonial website, Shaadi.com.

Soon recognising an opportunity to represent the intersection between cultural diversity and body inclusivity, Asha moved into the UK’s fashion and commercial modelling industry. She has since worked on numerous campaigns with global companies such as Speedo, Hewlett-Packard, KFC, Noughty Hair, Durex and TUI Holidays as well as local brands, Bloom & Wild, Wolf and Moon and Body Mirror. She has also been featured in various editions of Vogue magazine for her work with sustainable swimwear brand, Stay Wild Swim. Asha is both freelance and agency-represented by BAME Agency and Sandra Reynolds Agency.

Asha is also an advocate for intersectional feminism and body image, having penned her observations on the politics of Body Hair for Burnt Roti, as well as the lack of gender and racial diversity in British cycling for OpenDemocracy.

In her spare time, Asha enjoys dancing, travelling and trekking. Expeditions include summiting to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Everest Base Camp in Nepal and Mount Agung, Indonesia.

Professionally, Asha is now looking for international modelling placements in the fashion industry and to build upon her acting career in TV and film. She is a spotlight registered actor. You can find her recent acting work here.
